GDPR: who owns the data?

According to the GDPR personal data is owned by the individuals (reffered to as the data subjects) themselves not by companies or organizations that handle or process it. This coreprinciple of GDPR means that individuals retain control over their data allowing them to dictate its usage and safeguard their rights. On the side, organizations are entrusted with the task of responsibly managing and safeguarding this data in accordance with individual consent and preferences.
